Ben and I have similar hours as private pilots, we both have similar aviation ratings, but which one of us is the better pilot? For a laugh, we challenged each other to a competition. We had to hover a Robinson R44 helicopter at Manchester Barton Aerodrome.
I had a slight advantage, in that I’d had a trial lesson in an R22 some years back at Shoreham, but Ben is quick to learn, and is a great fixed wing pilot, so I had no doubt he’d do well.
You have to watch the video to see how we did, but needless to say, it wasn’t easy.
Our thanks to the instructor Paul Tucker, and The Helicentre for letting us push their fine machine to it’s limits.
But what should be our next challenge? Ben and I think this could be a regular feature. If you have any ideas, let me know in the comments below!
