Binge watch every video I've ever made!

Jon & Alastair return to Biggin Hill after a day trip to Compton Abbas.  This was a far less bumpy journey than the outbound leg, as the cloud cover increased, the ground temperatures fell, causing fewer thermals.

Jon takes his friend, Alastair, on a day trip to Dorset, landing at Compton Abbas Airport.  Our 1 hour flight, took us past Guildford, Alton, South of Middle Wallop and Shaftsbury.

Jon & Andrew take the PA28 for a spin around the East Kent coastline.  Great aerial views of Paddock Wood, Ramsgate, Margate and Whitstable.

I took a short flight from Biggin Hill to Paddock Wood.  I had planned to fly a longer route, but the turbulence was so uncomfortable, and the cloud base fairly low (~1800ft), so I decided to return back after circling my home town.

I took a long flight around Kent, Sussex and Essex this week, to help our flying group out after the new engine was fitted to the aircraft we use.

My landings had been a little sloppy in recent weeks, and so it was time to sharpen things up.  I asked an instructor to run through my landing technique, then a few days later I took a solo flight to practice that work.

This video demonstrates what it’s like to fly a light aircraft, in this case a Piper PA28, on a gusty, turbulent day.  It was sunny and clear, but the weather charts warned of moderate turbulence and a chance of gusts.

Jon takes friends for a tour of Kent.  Flying over Maidstone, Leeds Castle, Canterbury, Herne Bay, and the QE2 Bridge.

Jon & Alastair fly from Biggin Hill to Cardiff for lunch.  Routing via Farnborough and Swindon.

I took the PA28 up for some circuits after dark, to practice my night landings.

After a short flight around Kent, a return to Biggin Hill, and an aborted landing.

I had a thoroughly brilliant flight today around Kent.  Routing Biggin Hill to Biggin Hill via Tunbridge Wells, Maidstone, Whitstable, Margate, Dover, Folkestone, Tenterden.  There were three of us on board, and we all enjoyed the clear blue skies and smooth air.

I’d been meaning to visit a friend who lives near Bognor Regis for some time, and the journey by car is such a bore, so I decided to fly down, have lunch at Goodwood Aerodrome, and then take him on a tour of Portsmouth and the Isle of Wight.

I have bitten the bullet, and joined a light aircraft group that will hopefully reduce my day to day flying costs.
