London Gateway are having their new cranes delivered on Wednesday 8th June. Would you be flying over them, by any chance? I am trying to get up to the nature reserve to get some good pictures.

I think they are having another set delivered mid June also. I’ll find out and let you know.

  5. Hi Jon, I’ve recently subscribed to your YouTube channel. I’ve been a non-flying aviation enthusiast for decades and find your videos very informative and well made.
I see you do all your flying in the SE. It would be nice to see you visit some northern airfields. Not as busy up here either….once you get through the Manchester/Liverpool control zones!
Blackpool is now GA only and a very popular destination. I once did a trial flying lesson from there and was hooked. Unfortunately I never had the resources to work towards PPL. Now at least I have YouTube instead 🙂

  6. We finally have our scanner up and working, so we are hoping to track you on flightradar and radio from Biggin and up to North London. If you want to contact me, please message me at **************@********

    • How interesting. I’m next scheduled to be flying at 0930 on Sunday 30th April to Blackpool in G-BHOR, but it depends on the weather, and I’m not sure if I’ll be flying your way, or north westerly from Biggin Hill.

  7. We picked up Heathrow and their stacking frequencies back to Watford, so we should have you for some time until you change frequencies again. We picked up Dover approach and Clacton, so we have a wide area we can scan through.

    • Ok. If I route east then north…I’ll be talking to Biggin Hill Approach, then Southend Radar, then Farnborough North. If I route West, then it’ll be Biggin Hill Approach, Farnborough West, then Farnborough North. At the moment, the weather for Sunday is looking decidedly dodgy!

  8. Are you flying in the morning? We will be scanning from 9am. I need to put in the ATIS frequency too, but have tower and approach already.

    • Hi. Subject to any major weather changes, we should be departing Biggin Hill at about 0930BST. Then heading West. I wouldn’t have thought you’d pick up Biggin Hill’s Atis unless you’re near the aerodrome or in the air.

  9. Thank you so much for the update. We used to scan Southend ATIS and London City, but have not checked those frequencies out for years. I remember London Volmet South and Main which carried weather for the airports within range. Not sure if this is the old ATIS of today, as I said, the last time we scanned then we had old handhelds. A little bit more sophisticated today, lol. Have a great trip up North.

Hi Jon, love your videos, very informative and entertaining simultaneously. out of interest, what SkyDemon chart style are you using for you flight logs here. Looks very clean, I like it.
